Don Cherry was born and raised in Wichita Falls, Texas. Some know him as a singer,
others know him as a golfer. But, most know him as the singing golfer.
Don was and is the only person in history to have had a hit million-seller record
, "Band of Gold," on the hit parade and also to have finished in the Top Ten in the
U.S. Open in golf. His top-selling songs include
Mona Lisa, Thinking of You, Vanity, So Rare, I Love You Drops,
Music Maestro Please and Don’t Worry About Me.
He has played in the Masters nine times, the U.S. Open eight times and the
Walker Cup three times, and never lost a match.
Don has had 30 holes-in-one.George Bush were inducted together into the
Texas Golf Hall of Fame in 1995. It was an honor that was previously
bestowed upon such golf greats as Jimmy Demeret, Ben Hogan,
Byron Nelson, Tommy Bolt, Ben Crenshaw, Tom Kite Jackie Burke and Lee Trevino.
Dick Clark Show, Ed Sullivan Show, Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show, Jack Paar Show,
Arthur Godfrey Show, Merv Griffin Show, Mike Douglas Show Mike Wallace Show,
Hee Haw and Nashville Now. He continues to perform frequently in Las Vegas and
across the U.S.. He sang at Lady Bird Johnson’s most recent birthday party at the
"Wildflower Center Gala."
